Jim is originally from New Jersey but has spent the last 40 years in Bloomington, IL.
Jim has been a fixture on the Bloomington/Normal music scene since the 70's. He started out
playing for a pizza and all the beer you can drink (which if you know Jim is not much) at the
Galery in Normal, IL. He spent quite a few years as a solo artist playing just about everywhere
in town. In the 80's he joined a local rock band called The Spoons (and still has the parachute
pants to prove it) playing many of the popular clubs around town. He then did a 15 year run with
the Dick Benson Band playing just about every country club and hotel in Central IL.
Jim went back to his acoustic rock roots in the 2000s teaming up with Trefan Owen on lead guitar and still
plays regularly around town when not performing with The Bygones. Jim plays an acoustic Taylor 6
and 12 string, and electric Carvin AE-185 guitar, a vintage Yamaha SY77 keyboard and an Ovation mandolin.
